CHICAGO PROCLAMATION OF 40TH YR ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRTH OF HOUSE MUSIC
News
Published on 05/22/2024

Yesterday in Chicago at Daley Plaza, Mayor Brandon Johnson, along with Cook County State Attorney Kim Foxx, house music DJ legend Farley "Jackmaster" Funk, and others, read out a proclamation on behalf of the City of Chicago, officially stating that it has been 40 years since the birth of the house music genre. On January 20, 1984, producer Jesse Saunders's song "On and On" was first published and distributed. Because of this, house music is now a worldwide genre that is becoming even more popular. Along with the proclamation street signs commemorating DJ Legends Pink House, Ron Hardy, Darryl Pandy, and Paul Johnson were displayed. Throughout Chicago, people celebrate the 40th anniversary by hosting major events such as the Ascension, Farley's Juneteenth, The Chosen Few, and other events there and nationwide. We at Radio WAAH are honored to support the 40 years of the house music genre and all the DJs, producers, artists, dancers, househeads, and house music appreciators, as we continue to stride forward as part of history.https://abc7chicago.com/post/chicago-house-music-40th-anniversary-dance-party-held/14853972/
